Il Prof. CARMELO PUGLIA è Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Scienze del Farmaco dell'Università degli Studi di Catania, dove ricopre l’incarico di docente di Tecnologia, Socioeconomia e Legislazione Farmaceutica con laboratorio (Corso M-Z) per il Corso di Laurea in Chimica e Tecnologia Farmaceutiche e di Legislazione dei Prodotti Erboristici e della Salute per il Corso di Laurea in Scienze Farmaceutiche Applicate (SFA). E' inoltre docente di “Classificazione ed Impieghi dei Dispositivi Medici e Diagnostici” per la Scuola di Specializzazione in Farmacia Ospedaliera dell'Università di Catania. Il Prof. Puglia è autore e coautore di circa 80 pubblicazioni scientifiche e di circa 30 comunicazioni a congressi (orali e posters). Le principali tematiche di ricerca riguardano: veicolazione di farmaci mediante sistemi micro e nanoparticellari allo scopo di aumentare la biodisponibilità e la stabilità di attivi farmaceutici; valutazione del grado di assorbimento percutaneo in vitro ed in vivo di attivi contenuti in formulazioni destinate all’applicazione topica, sia con finalità cosmetica o dermatologica che sistemica (sistemi transdermici); formulazione e valutazione di efficacia di prodotti cosmetici mediante studi di assorbimento percutaneo e di spettrofotometria di riflettanza.
