Making judgements
The student will develop the ability to collect and interpret regulatory, scientific, and market data relating to herbal products, food supplements, and health products, in order to form independent judgements on legislative compliance, safety in use, and the correctness of claims, while considering the scientific, professional, ethical, and regulatory implications of the choices made.
Communication skills
The student will develop communication and relational skills through discussion and teamwork activities, acquiring the ability to present the complex regulations of herbal and health products with clarity and terminological rigor, effectively argue their technical-regulatory assessments, and draft reports or documents compliant with the standards required by the professional and institutional sector.
Learning skills

Retrieve, select, and critically use regulatory, legislative, and technical-scientific sources relevant to the sector of herbal products, food supplements, and health products.
Independently update their knowledge in the face of the constant evolution of the national and European regulatory framework, health claims regulations, and market trends.
Independently explore application issues related to compliance, labeling, safety, and control of health products, developing a study and updating method oriented towards continuous learning in future professional practice.
Course Structure
Teaching activities are carried out primarily through lectures (Delivery Teaching, DE), aimed at presenting and exploring theoretical content related to regulatory frameworks, production, marketing, and control of herbal products, food supplements, and health products, with a focus on legislative aspects, labeling, safety, and regulatory compliance.
To complement the lectures, when the nature of the topics allows, interactive teaching activities (Interactive Teaching, DI) based on active learning methodologies are proposed. These include group work, guided discussions, label analysis, case studies, or simulations of regulatory compliance procedures. Such activities promote active student engagement, stimulate peer and instructor discussions, encourage the application of regulations to solve practical problems, and develop communication, collaboration, and independent judgment skills.
The integration between delivery teaching and active learning activities contributes to achieving the expected learning outcomes, fostering both the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and the ability to apply it critically within the professional context of herbal and health products.
Should the course be delivered in a blended or distance learning format, any necessary variations to the above will be introduced in order to adhere to the schedule outlined in this syllabus.
